MEETING OF CREDITORS.
EBTATE OP ELLIOTTE & HARK A meeting of creditors in the estate of Elliotte & Hare, flaxmillers, bankrupts, was held at Carterton yesterday, the Deputy Official Assignee (Mr W. B. Chennelte) presiding. E. B. Hare, senior partner of the firm, on examination said the statement filed by him was correct so far as he was aware. He attributed bis filing to insufficient power to work the mill. No creditors were pressing except Mills and Co. They had had three meeting of creditors, and at the last meeting it was decided that they should file. They had not done well in business. They had a contract from Johnstone & Co., which they conld not carry out owing to the bad weather. They had to knock off work owing to the want of a larger enfibe. The asset (£110) was the cost of the machinery. Bough ly speaking he drew JE37 fr»m the business and Elliotte about £7O. They started with a capital of £SO.
Robert H. Elliotte vras also examined and staled he had sold to Adam Armstrong certain machinery and rights forjm 10s. . He paid Mr. Pownall expenses to Masterton were twßhil lings, and he had three pounds in hand. They got put back {considerably owing to the bad weather in winter. The prices were good when they started. They had to sell the first consignment at less than it cost toproduce, owing to the ffli in prices.
It was decided that the Assignee realise the assets as soon as possible, and the meeting adjourned.
