Farewell Concert.

lb should bardly require a special notico to remind the public of the complimentary concert to be tendered to-night to Mr. R. Gant. Still, there are in every community boiuo whoso memories am sadly, not to bay conveniently defeotivo. During eight years' residence Mr. Gant has never been known to refuse his services at the call of charity. Every denomination, every sooiety, public institution, Fire Brigade, Volunteer corpx, Football and Cricket Club has at difjforenttimosmudeuseof his talent. Even Carterton and Greytown have availed themselves of his ready , , kindness. Of the Dramatic and V Philharmonic society he was the leading spirit, and many times lias delighted largo audiences by his musical and histrionio gifts. In Ins capacity as a private citizon he has enjoyed the esteem o£ all who bare como in contact with him. At the concert to-night all the oest musical talent will be represented, supplemented by Mies Hill, a membe r of that talented family of Wellington

Mr Pearson's Band will play ouUide, prior to the entertainment. As this is the first and last opportunity the public will have of showing their appreciation to one who has done such eood work, we feel sure the response will be a hearty one, and we shall be greatly dissappointed if there •will be more than standing room to-night at St Mattbew'3 Schoolroom, kindly placed by the Eev W. E. Paige at the disposal of the promoters of the concert.
