MASTERTON-OPAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
A meeting of the Stewards of iho Mastotton-Opaki Jookoy Olub was held in the Olub Hotel on Saturday eyemng, Mr A. Walker presiding. The report and balance-sheet of the St. Patrick's Day meeting was '" read, showing a profit of £65.
A protest entered by JR. Hookey against a certain owner was considered at some length and finally referred to the Metropolitan Olub, At a meeting of the members ;jrf the Club held subsequently, at which there was a good attendance, the financial position of the Club was thoroughly gone into, the report showing the assets to be considerably Li excess of the liabilities.
The Secretary w*s instructed to collect all outstanding accounts, and was empowered to sue for their recovery where necessary. At tho unanimous wish of the meeting, the President (Mr A. W. Walker) withdrew his resignation, which bad been handed in to the Secretary,
Messrs Wslker, Macara, and .the Secretary wero appointed a committee to deal with the application of the Trotting Club for the use of tho course. -»
The Stewards and Secretary were complimeuted upon the success of the December and March meetings, which resulted in a profit oi £IBO. It was decided, in nro of the favorable report as position of tho Club operations. ' ~~^ Mr D'Arcy attended and presented a roport upon the financial position of the Club prior to the present Seoretary taking office, which was considered satisfacosryj Votes of thanks to the Chairman and Mr Elkins for tbe use of the room terminate.! the proceedings.
