MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD

The ordinary meeting of the Manriceville Road Board was held on Saturday, Maroli 28th. PresentMessrs G. Gunderson (chairman), Jackson, Drew, and Forsberg. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, and letters outwards read, the following correspondence inwards was read and considered : From the Treasury Department, provisionally approving of loan for £300; from same, objecting to the revaluation of Mr Martin Kennedy's section, in connection with the loan forDreyer's Rock Road, and intimating that in consequence of this, the rate struck is insufficient ; from Goloninl Secretary, re gazetting Special Orderj from Property Tax Commissioner, stating that he had sent to the Treasury a voucher for £2B 2s 6d subsidy ; from receiver of Land Revenue, stating that 'thirds,' to the amount of £2OO, had been placed to the credit of the Board; from the Colonial Treasurer, stating that a loan of £2OO for Brodersen's Bridge had been paid into the Bank. Mr W. Jessen interviewed the Board on behalf of certain settlers in Mauriceville West Road. .He informed them that owing to the state of the road, the settlers had great difficulty in conveying their milk to the Dairy Factory.—lt was resolved to expend £5 in repairs,

It was resolved that with a view to opening Johnston's Road, steps be taken to get transfers from Messrs L. and N. Neilsen. It was deoided that tanders be called for forming Dreyer's Rock Road; Extension Road, and Wangaehu Koad in five seotions, and also for two bridges. Mr Jepson resigned his seat on the Board in consequence of his leaving the district. The Collector was authorised to give notice to all persons in arreard with rates that such, must be paid at once, or proceedings will be taken to enforce payment. Cheques amounting to £7O Is 8d were passed for payment. Rates collected since last meeting were reported to be £lB 19s Id.
