LAND BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Wellington Land Board was held on Thursday. Present —Messrs J. W. A. Marchant (Commissioner), W. A. Fitzherbert, W. W. McCardle, and D. H. Macarthur, M.H.R.
The following applications to transfer wore approved:—section 44, block 8, Poliangiua, from J. Carr (by Public Trustee) to F. W. Scott; section 10, block 7, Tararua, from G. Winter to B. Nicholls; section 71, block 9, Mangaone, from H. Savage to H. Mudgway *, sections 130, 181, and 187, Hunterville, from J. Candutti to J. Innes; section 75, block 9, Pohangina, from J. S. Harrison to W. 11. M. Graham; section BS, Levin, from R. M'lntosh to J.-M'lntosh; section 172, block 13, Mangaone, from K. Rothwell to 0. Inakson ; sections 98 and 114, blocks 8 and 6, Mangaone, from T: L. F. Kay to L. V. Kay; section 2, block 10, Mangaone, from C. Griffen to F. Vonßeden ; section 71, block 9, Pohangina, from G. Fraser to J. Johnston; sections 12fi and 127. blocks 15, Pohangina, and 4, Apiti, from A. P. and C. E. Lindsay to C. E. and A. Lindsay; section 47, block 12, Makuri, from T. Coffey to C. Fitch; sction 3, block 14, Tiriraukawa, from F, Floyd to T. Powell; part of small run, No 41, Mangawliero, from T. A. Lewis to E. A. Lewis, on certain conditions ; seotion 21, block 7, Mangaliao, from J. M'Kohan to T. Avery ; section 2G, block 11, Mangaone, from T. R< York to M. P. Britt; section 9, i block 18, Mangaliao, from J. Summerfield to Miss A. Petersen.
Applications to capitalise were granted as follows: —J, T, Martin, section 16, block 2, Mangaone; E. Smith, section 48, block 7, Mangaone; J. Eaton, seotion 89, block 3, Mangahao (the selector also allowed to obtain title if desired). Titles were granted as under: —J. Kearins, section 1582, block 9, Kairanga; G. Peebles, section 28, block 10, Mangahao; Mrs C. J. Wratt, sections 29 and 81, block 11, Mangahao. The applications made by W. W. McCardle, junr., and T. M. Chambers (in the estate of T. Burgess) were postponed for a report from the ranger. The Board resolved—That W. J. M'Larin be allowed to oonvert section 16, block 15, Ouga, from the perpetual lease to the deferred payment system; that the interest of the selector in seotion 5, block 9, Wairoa, be cancelled at next meeting if instalments due are not paid; that G. 0. Aiken be allowed four more years to pay interest on his capitalised section 17, block 8, Wairoa, on the usual terms; that G. Cox be allowed to cut firewood on the unsold sections, Levin; that C. Tait be informed in reply to his request that the transfer of section 28, block 5, Kop* uaranga, be delayed until his olaim for fencing is settled, that he has his remedy under the Fencing Act; that the proposals of the Alfredton and Mangawhero Road Boards for spending accrued thirds be approved; that a report be obtained from the Ranger with regard to the application of Messrs Mowlem and Arbon tD lease a part of the reserve in front of seotion 65, block 4, Pohangina; that a report be also obtained as to the facts ■'f the case of T. Robinson, who applied for compensation for bushfelling done by him on Crown lands adjoining section 12, block 5, Apiti; that Mr Howlett be permitted to have the temporary use of one acre, aad Mr Farrell the use, in common with other applicants, of the rest of the clearing in the Makuri township, which was sought after ; that the occupiers of seotion 275, 276, and 277, block 9, Wainuioru, be allowed until May next to effect the improvements required; that the proposals of the Commissioner with regard to sowing with crass seed the burnt Crown lauds at Kaiwhata be approved, and the Government be urged to give effect to them ; that the selector of section 47, block 18, Mangahao, be allowed a month's graoe in which to pay his arrears of rental; that H. D. Bell be informed the Board regrets it cannot comply with his request to have part ot seotion 144, block 8, Kopuaranga, offered for cash ; that S. Bridge, selector of sections 26 and 27, block 8, Mangaone be told that he must effeot the improvements requirsd; that H. Law, who asked that seotion 4, block 11, Gorge, be reduced to 103 per acre and made second-nlass land, be informed that the Board has no power to comply with the request; that J.Cull be similarly informed.
R. W. NeiJl was allowed to substitute the name of E. Gladstone for that of J. O'Lilly as transferee of sections 08 and 72, blook 6, Apiti. D. S. Stewart wrote stating that he had inad\ertently seleoted two per» petual lease sections which did not adjoin each other, in ignorance that he was breaking the law, and it was resolved to cancel the lease of the Oroua Coal Creek section and recommend the refund of the deposit, and to offer the land after ten days' notice.
It was decided to offer a number of reserves in the Kopuaranga District for sale.
