FOOTBALL.

Maatertoa Club.

The annual meeting of members of the Masterton Football Club was held in the Club Hotel on Saturday evening, Mr E M D Whatman occupying the chair.

The balance sheet for the past year, which showed a credit balance of £ll 17d 6d, was reid by the Secretary. The annual report was also read, showing that during the past season the Club had won eleven matches and lost five. It was suggested that a dressing shed be at once erected on the grounds, and that the ground be levelled as soon as funds permit.

The report was adopted, and a vote of thanks passed to the Secretary for his indefatigable efforts on behalf of the Club, The election of officers was then proceeded with, with tbe following result :-Patron, Mr G Beetham (reelected) ; President, Mr A W Cave (re-elected); Vice-Presidents, Messrs W McKeuzie. A Keisenberg, J Macara, J Hessey, W Perry, C A Pownall, and W Day, senr.; Captain, MrE M D Whatman (re-elected); Vice-Captain, Mr R S Hirschberg re-elected); Secretary, Mr C A Blackburn (re-elected); Treasurer, Mr E H Eton; General Committee, Messrs C, J, and H Perry, C Bannister and 11 Gray ; Match Committee, Messrs J. Perry, Whatman and 0. Bannister; delegates to Union, Messrs Whatman, C. Perry, and J. Perry. The medals presented by Mr R S Hirchberg for the best forward and the best back during the season were ballotted to Messrs W Day and J Perry respectively, a vote of thanks being passed to the donor. Mr Hirschberg, by way of encouraging training, offered a medal for a half mile handicap raca to be run by members of the Club on a date to be fixed by the committee. Mr Whatman also offered a medal for the best back in the first fifteen and best forward in the second, Mr Keisenberg a medal for the best forward in tho first fifteen, and C. Perry a medal for the best back in the second fifteen. It was decided to hold the annual ball on June 10th. It was also decided to erect a dressing shed at once on the ground.

The Secretary was authorised to get the opinion of a professional man at the end of the season as to the b6st means of levelling the ground, and act accordingly. The matter of arranging a match with Wellington for Queen's Birthday was left in the hands of the Secretary. A vote of thanks was unanimously passed to the retiring officers. Messrs Hirschberg sndtlie Secretary were appointed a committee to act in conjunction with oonimittec3 from the Red Stars and Rifle Volunteers to secure the establishment of a gymnasuim in the town. Messrs C Perry and Ohennells were re*eleoted auditors ol the Glub,

The following new members were elected :—Messrs Anderson, Baird, M Elder, C Cottrell, Cashion, Saunders and A Holmwood.

A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman for presiding and to Mr Elkins for the use of toe loom, and the meeting was brought to a close with the indispensible "shilling in."

A very successful practice match was held on the Park Oval on Saturday by the Red Stars. Although most of the members were a bit stiff, the match waa an exceedingly interesting one and with a few similar practices this Club should bid high for the premiership.

A number of members of the Masterton Club also turned out and had a practice on, the Worksop road ground. Jt is. stated that the Maori Football Club intends putting only a first fifteen in the field this year and that a number of the members will join the Masterton Club,
