Masterton. v "ft iiaxeama.

A cricket match betwean teams representing Masterton and Whareama was played in the paddock of Mr Maunsell at Tinui on Saturday last, resulting in an easy victory for Masterton. Mr A. Elder captained the Whareama team andMr C. Perry the visitois. The pitch was a good one, and was much appreciated by the Masterton team. Play was commenced at 11 o'clock, but at one p.m. an adjournment was made to Mrs Owen's, where a sumptuous repast was provided by the home team. In their first innings Whareama succeeded in making only fourteen runs, whilst in their second they put together 41. Masterton only played one innings, in which 107 runs were scored. The principal scorers for Whareama were Elder, btewart, and Owen, and for their opponents Perry Whatman (2), Eton and Iggulden'. The most destructive trundlers were Andrew and Elder for Whareama, an d Richards, Iggulden and Perry for Masterton. The Masterton " boys" left Tinui for home early on Sunday morning, and express themselves highly pleased at the treatment received throughout at the hands «f the Whareama team.
