Mr F. H. Wood reports of tlie stock sale held at his Taratahi yards on Thursday aa follows: —A much larger number of sheep were yarded than had been advertised, moat of which were of good quality. The attendance of buyers was very large and bidding spirited. Shesp fully maintained last sale rates, and cattle slbwed a decided improvement. Every line submitted was sold under the hammer, the demand evidently exceeding the supply. The following is a quotation of prices realised : —Sheep —Lincoln ewes, full mouth, 8s 7d to 98 3d, ditto 2, 4, and 6-toofch 10s to 12s 6d ; crossbred store ewes 6s 6d to 8s 8d; culled ewes, 5s to 6s 3d ; Merino ewes, full mouth, is; lambs in the wool, 5s 6d to 7s 7d; Lincoln rams, 2-tooth, to 2£ guineas, ditto full month, Ito guineas ; Romney Marsh rams, full mouth, J to 1 guinea. Cattle —Calves, 12s to 19s ; 18-months-old steers and heifers, 23s to 30s, 2-year-old steers, 50s to 60s; fat cows, 60sto 75s j store ditto, 40s to 60s. Suckers, 5s to 6s ; weaners, ; sows in pig, 52s boar pigs, 12 months. 30s.
