The Wesleyan Conference opened its sittings last night at the Pitt St. Wesleyan Church, when the Rev. H. R. Dewsbury was elected President and the Rev. W. Lee was reappointed Secretary. The retiring President, the R«v. J. J.- Lewis, delivered an address in which he spoke of the work of the Wesleyan Church throughout the world ; praised tli3 temperance work of Bauds of Hope, while urging that they should not become mere vehicles of amusement. He maintained that the bible should be read in schools, and spok6 strongly against professional revivalists. The first .draft of stations, subject to revision, was read.
