EN&LISH. London, February 25. General Booth will reach Australia in September. Lord R. Churchill is about to make a prolonged tour in Mashonaland. It is intended tomovein the House of Commons for the appointment of a Committee to enquire into the separation of Northern Queensland. Admiral Hornby was thrown from a dog cart to-day, and received serious injuries.
H.M.S. Lizard has been re-com-missioned for service on the Australian station.
The Admiralty,in order to facilitate the commissioning of the Australian cruisers have suspended the regulation with regard to five years' service, but it only has effect to the Australian station.
Mr Parnell, speaking at Dublin, threatened to support the Tories at the general election.
Mrs Jamiedon has gone to Zanzibar, and promises to throw important light on Stanley's proceedings during the last expedition. It is reported that Earl .Dudley severs his commercial connections and marries one of the Prince of Wales' daughters. Rome, February 25. Intelligence baa been received that the Italian troops defeated 600 Dervishes in an engagement at Aqualat, killing a general, two chiefs, and 200 men.
Ottawa, February 25. The Hon. C. H. Tupper, Minister of Marine, accuses Sir Bicbard Cartwright, and the Hons. Wilfred Laurier and Wimaun, members of the Dominion Parliament, Mr Robert R. Hitt. Chairman of the Foreign Relatives Committee of:the, United States House of Representatives, and other members of the American Congress, of plotting for the annexation of Canada to the United States.
Suakim, February 25. In the recent engagement between the Egyptain troops and the Dervishes at Tokar the issue of the fight was in considerable doubt for a few minutes. A desperate charge by the Dervishes nearly • outflanked the Egyptians, who saved themselves by successfully occupying the ruined houses at Tokar before the Dervishes could do so.
Washington, February 24. A resolution has been submitted to the House of Representatives proposing to amend the constitution with a view to permit an impeachment of Speakers who shall be guilty of arbitrary actions ' similar to those alleged against Mr Reed, the present Speaker.

Melbourne, February 25. Wilson, who murdered his sweetheart by cutting her throat, has been sentenced to death. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Mr Pound, metallurgist, on a charge of stealing platinum valued at £6OOO, belonging to the Otway Ranges Platinum Conrpany. The revelations concerning this oompany are the sensation of the week. It was started about 15 months ago, and consequent on a report by Mr Pound, shares, which were recently worth 15s, rose at a bound to £BS. Mr Cosmo Newbery, Government analyst subsequently tested the ore, and failed to find a trace of platinum, upon which Mr Found instituted a libel action against him. Sydney, February 25.
An exhaustive report furnished to the Government on the deposits of iron in various parts of the colony computes that 12,944,000 tons of ore is available, contqifiing 6,863,QQ0 tons of iro.n.
