DOBSON-KENNEDY CO.
Another large and enthusiastic audience assembled last night at the Theatre Eoyal to witness the perform mance of the popular military drama " Current Cash," which, if anything, was even better received than the " Shraughaun." Storms of applause greeted the Company at every act, and on two occasions the audience' would not be satisfied until the principals had appeared before the curtain. Mr Collet Dobson in the dual characters of Captain Mark Milton and One Eye (the unknown), sustained two difficult and totally different parts in a manner which proves his undoubted right to the good name he has earned, while that inimitable, humorist, Mr J. J. Kennedy, kept his audience in a continual bubble of merriment with his Rev. Lincoln Green. The/villain of the piece (Major Challis) was' undertaken by Mr Harry Saville, who. gained loud applause. Miss Idrtne Thornton as Grace Milton, wife of the Captain and heroine of the piece, carried ouh her part in a realistic style gaining the deep sympathy of the audience as was frequently demonstrated. She was ably aided by little Ruby Kennedy, whose first appearonce in Masterton was made last night. This very young lady shows decided talent, and was at once established a warm favorite with the public. Mr W. H, Cowan as " Private Bowles," Miss Lily Hill as Delia Challis, and Mr Frank Norton as Hon. Harry Chafferton, would be hard to beat. At the conclusion of Current Cash, a laughable fatce entitled £.B. or the Benicia Boy was staged and well received.
To-night this talented Company make their last appearance in the "Colleen Bawn," Mr Kennedy appearing as Myleß-na-Coppaleen, Miss Thornton as " The Colleen," Miss Hill as "Anne Chute," and Mr Dobson as ««Kyrle Daby."
