Mr Brace before tho-Slootors-
Stratford, February 14* Mr Brace addressed a large meeting here last night, and was patiently listened to. He referred to local representation, and said there was no want oi local men qualified to fill the position, but they could not asjree amongat themselves. , He expressed himself strongly opposed to Mr Ballance. Referring to his speeches on the harbour question iu the House, he said his remarks were only intended as "chaff.,' Since being itithe district he was forced to admit that the harbpur rate wag - a serious burden on the settlers, and he would support any : measure of relief that did not entangle the Colony in respect to harbors He did not consider 'the Stratford versus Central Railway in _the region of practical politica, Jbat if the question did come up be ssid ho slioultl favor

The audience refused a hearing to the speaker who proposed a vote of thanks confidence, and a vote of no-confidence was proposed, but Mr Bruce asked the meeting to confine iteelf to thanks only. The meeting agreed to this, and a vote of thanks was given. The latter part of the proceeding? were very lively. • • i
