Ministerial Addresses.
Haweba, Monday,
Mr McKenzie, Minister for Lands, addressed a meeting at"Manaia on Saturday, and has gone to Opunake. Mr Seddon arrived here on Saturday, and delivers an address to-night. Mr in his speech, intimated that a small loan was necessary for opening up lands. The money would be taken out of trust funds, such as Government Insurance and Post Office Savings Bank accumulations, for which there is now no outlet. There could be no safer security than the land on which to advance this money. Money for public buildings and school buildings would have to be paid out of our own ; resot?rcea instead of being borrowed. While oot objecting to land being sold, it must be sold on terms which would prevent it being bought for speculative purposes. An attempt would be made to reform'; the Upper House, making the term of nomination 7 or 10 years. r
