Puketapu, Monday,

The rain is cleaving off, and it promises to be favorable for the Champion Match this afternoon. The first two ranges (500 and 600 yards) of the Grand Aggregate Match were fired this morning. The light was good and there was not a breath of wind, but the rain put several of the men off. Webster, of Auckland, who was leading, made 81 at the shortest range, but burst up at 600 yards, where he only put on 1-4. This put him back to fifth place, Kruse came along from third place with tho capital score of 66 for the two ranges, and took top position with 477. King, of Oamaru, who had been second, scored 49, and fell to fourth place on the list. Sloane trotted up 58 and came up next to Kruse. Perry, of Wanganui, the sixth man, fired very steadily, aud with 65 to his credit took third place. Kruse made the possible at 500 yards and 31 at 600 yards. The following are the highest belt aggregates : Kruse, Wanganui 504 Sloane, Victoria 497 Webster, Auckland 494 King, Oamaru 487 Perry, Wanganui 479 Henderson, Auckland ... 478 Sloane cannot fire in the final. Later. The Champion Match was fired this afternoon with the following result:— Kruse (Wanganui Rifles) champion rifle belt for 1891-92, gold star of the N.Z.R.A., and £4O 588 Webster (A Battery, Auckland) silver star of N.Z R.A., and £3O 586 King (Oamaru Garrison Band), silver star of N.R.Z.A., and £2O 515 Perry (Alexandra Cavalry, Wanganui), silver star of N.Z.R,A. and £ls 511 Henderson (A Battery, Auckland), £lO 510 Wakeliu (Hon Reserve Corps], £5 509 Williams, Wellington Navals),

£5 507 Parslow (A Battery, Auckland) £5 505 Robilliard (Kaiapoi Rifles) £5... 502 McCarthy (Waikari Rifles) £5... 500 The marking throughout the meeting has been excellent, only ten mistakes having been made. Upwards of 60,000 rounds of ammunition were fired, and the sale of sighting shots has been the largest ever made in connection with the Association.
