When the last range in the Wellington Match was being fired a young man named Fredericks, who was marking in the trenches, had the third finger of his right hand lacerated by a bullet splinters. Fredericks, who is ut man of short stature, was standing on a box in the tronch, and was in the act of taring his target, when he was hit by a splinter of a bullet intended for the next target. His injuries, which were not of a serious nature, were attended to at the camp, and •he was then taken to Napier Hospital. Corporal Gardner is progressing favourably at the hospital.
