INQUEST.

Sadden Death at Carterton. U.n inquest was held this morningbefore Colonel .Roberts, R.M., touching the death of Mrs Elliott, wine of Mr Robert 0, Elliott, who diea suddenly at Carterton yesterflic F. Feist was chosen foreman of lie jury. pIH. Elliott, husband of the dec Ised, deposed that nis wife was 50 uxs of age last September. Sha had leen ailing for the last 5 months. Dr jfcy attanded her for a paralytic strcA which Bhe had about five moicSs ago, from which she had beei*iffering since. GW. Smith deposed ; I am a sett presiding in Carterton. I know the ~d cceased, who was . staying at my he »se yesterday, attending my wife a: a friend. We were having tea tog ether, and had partly finished when ;be deceased rose from her chair and fell back with one arm on to tile table. My daughter caught her and} I assisted to ease her down on the jlloor. I gave the deceased a tea spa'onful of brandy and immediately £ ent for the doctor. The deceased only gave two or three gasDS and e^mad. To the'jury : The deceased made no remark previously as to being unwell. [

Dr Joljinstoa deposed to being called in tio see the deceased yester - day aboujt 4.30 p.m., and on arrival finding the deceased lying on the floor.) On examination he found this body warm, but the pulses liafl ceased to beat. Tho face had a cer.liin debility and the eyeballs set. 1 The cause of death in his opinion (/caking into consideration the previous ailment) was apoplexy.
