ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Alfredton Road Board was} held on January 6th. Present—M.essrs Kebbell (chairman), Warren, Bc-'nton, and S. M. George. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Inward correspondence was read as follows From Mr Lowes, re thirds on section 10. over until the next meeting. From Smith and Hogg, re advertisements, stating that they had onlj had one advertisement since the arrangement was made to give them a share.
The Clerk stated that the arrangement was that the Eketahuna and Pahiatut Mail was to receive a share of the advertisements, and that thn Board should fix from time to time what share that should be, and under that resolution any advertisements not otherwise ordered were naturallj put in the Daily, The resolution referred to was then read, confirming the Clerk's statement, and it was decided to adhere to the present arrangement.
From Commissioner of Crown Lands, re Barraud's thirds. .From Bank, enclosing new F.D. receipt for £25 10s 7d, also acknowledging receipt of old F.D. receipt, and stating £39 16s, thirds, had been received.
From Treasury, re thirds sent to bank, £39 l(is and £i 9s Bd.
From Pahiatua County Council, stating they will subsidise any expenditure of money by the Board, on that portion of the Pah Valley road lying between the boundaries of the County and Road Baard. The matter was held over until next meeting. From Survey office, re maps of Burling's road.
The Clerk was instructed to enquire about the matter when down in Wellington, and if found that the maps are required by the various departments of the Land offioe, that the Clerk be authorised to get a copy made and forwarded to the Wairarapa North County Council. No teuders were received for metalling in front of Mr S. M. (ieorge's accommodation houso. It was decided to let the matter rest until the poll for the county loan was taken. Mr J. H. Groves waited on the Board re the deviation of Mangaone Fast Central road. Mr Eli Smith being absent,the matter was left over, and Mr Groves was informed that he had better see Mr Smith on the! matter.
Mr Davis waited on the Board re soma thirds ho wished expended in front of his place. It was resolved that he be paid £2 subject to the consent of the Laud Board io the work.
H, Fostcoa waited on the Board and handed in a petition from certain settlers in the township, praying that their thirds may be expended on a foot bridge over Te Hoe Creek. The matter was held ovor until the next meeting in order that the site might be seen and reported on. It was resolved that the sum of £5 be passed for payment and handed to the Wairarapa North Count} Council for work done by Mr P. Britt on Tiraumea road. That the sum of JEG be granted for the erection of a wire foot bridge across the Tiraumea creek on Messrs Smith and Burling's property, to bt paid when work is done. That Messrs George and Warren sign cheques. That tenders be called for pain tin <. the Eoad Board Office, and that the Clerk draw out specifications fo: same, tenders to close on Tuesday, 20th, at 10 p.m., and that a Com mittee consisting of Messrs S. M. George, l\ebbell and Behton open qnd deal with same. The.next meeting AY&s fixed for February 3.
