Judgment by default for amount claimed, with costs 10s, and solicitor's fee 21s. W. Rigdway v A. Wilde. This was a case adjourned from last sitting of the Court in which the plaintilf sued on behalf of his wife to recover the sum of one pound for services to the wife of the defendant in tjme'fjf confinement. The defendant, being sworn, stated that he paid the plaintfff 10s, but did not promise to pay any balance, but said he would pay tlio remainder if there was any more duo. His wiie, however, said there was no more

owing. To Mr Acheson : She told me to give Mrs Ridgway what I though: proper, as there wasno proper amount stipulated. Mrs Wilde, wife of defendant, on oath stated that there was no arrange ment made as to pay. She received 10s and a clock which she considered was quite sufficient. To Mr Achcson : I found her in board and her child and sometimes her husband. >She was with me five weeks. I had Miss Swan at my house, she wanted 7s a week which I thought too much, and she went home. ' Plaintiff was nonsuited.
