■ The ordinary; monthly' meeting, of i the -Tai'atalii-.Oarterton • Board was held on Saturday. ,Present--Wesei'B| H. R. Bunny v (Chairman), N. Grace,! E. Moi'gan, fl, Braltkwaite, E, W,j Dorset,W.;B. Alleu, J. Rayner, Jas! Stevens. •' •: The minutes of the previous i meeting wore read ahd confirmed;; i • The Treasurer' reported .a debit balance: and outstanding "rates amounting to about £600.. CORRESPONDENCE. _ From Survey Office, re information in respect to all legalised roads within tbo district, the informations being wanted to assist Government surveyor to survey tlwsftid roads in order, to have; them 'legalised. It was resolved that, each Warden
should give all necessary information . in respect-- to the road 3 in their Wards. :" From Mr Buchanan, ro road on the Coast' line, The matter was left in the handa of tho Wavdena for Ko, : 8 Ward for further inquiries.! ft : Sir-Wilson was' appointed ranger to tho . Taratahi-Carterton Road District at a salary of LG a yea'fy with the usual ranger's fees. . : Several settlers on Brooklyn road waited upon the Board and asked for some repairs to enable them; to get in and out of their homes, Tlie Warden explained that- unless a creek whioli crosses'' tbe -road is cleaned out it would be useless to do anything to the road. The deputation stated tbal the settlers had agreed to clean tho creek out. ■ After some further explanation the matter was .left in., the hands of tlie Warden for No, fl Ward. -James Hodder applied to be allowed to expend the amount of his rates 011 the road kuown as Rodder's line. The warden explained' the matter in respeot t6 the road; and moved that tho matter stand over tiil the whole of tho rates for that Ward were in. " ~ ■ Mr Sewell asked permission- to
erect a gate across the. road at Iris proporty in the Hinau Gully. Permission was granted on 'the usual conditions being complied will'. Mr Booth's tender fcr, the supply of timber to the Board at lis Od per 100 ft to accepted. : . Some accounts were passed for payment, Mr Bruithwaite moved that handrails bo placed to a couplo of culverts on the main road at the South end of the district... Seconded by Mr Stevens, After some disoussion the motion was lost and instead' of handrails it was resolved that the one which is the narrowest be widened to 18 feet.' •' The foreman was instructed to get some repairs done on Para Boat], On the motion of Mr Dorset, Mr Aokerman was allowed 25s for some work done on the road, Eesolved, that Mr Tancred and others lrove notice to cut the gorse where it is encroaching on the road. ■ The foremau of the roads complained that the contractor was not carrying out his contract in keeping the road clear of scrub. Eesolved, that he be informed that lie must keep the road clear according to specifications, Resolved, that Messrs Williams and Beetham have notice that unless the grass encroaching on the road in front of their property at Waingnwa is cut down within one month from date, the Board will have the work done, and charge them with the cost. Eesolved, that proceedings be taken against defaulters unless tlieir rates be paid on or before '.the 15th. December, instant. , ; - Mr Stevens asked permission to lay a tramway crossing an unused road at the West Taratahi.. Permission w granted on the usual condition;), The meeting then adjourned,
