Several men arrested for wrecking trains on the New York Central railway since the luiluve of J.ho recent strike, have made coDfessioriß allowing that there were extensive plots made to wreck traias, and charging the Knights of Labour with instigating the plots, and furnishing the money I for the wreckerß. These confessions, together with the escape to Canada of Lee, the Knights of Labour leader, who ordered the strike, and is personally involved in the revelations, create, (a new York correspondent says) a profound sensation, and destroy the last vestige of popular sympathy with tho Knights as an organisation,
A Troy (New York) telegram to Dalzisl eays:—Tbe full confessions ofthemen,Onin, Buctt, and Reed, who attempted to wreck two express trains on the New York Central, are published this morning in the Sunday Sun. Tho depositions, which give every dotail of tho dastardly plot, occupy six columns, and reveal the whole story of the scheme of wholesale murder, the only motive for whiph wa& tho injury of tho New York Central railway. The .confessions implicate master-workman Leo, of the Knights of Labour, who furnished the money to the would-be-wreckers to enable them to carry otic their designs, and to afterwards flee to Canada. The first attempt was maduon August 28, when the line was obstructed in the vicinity of Harness station, near Albany, for the purpose of throwing the Chicago Limited moil train on tho track. The night was dark and rainy, say the confessions, and a barricade of sleepers was made, but one of the sleepers proved to be rotten and the locomotive demolished it, and swept the barricade off without derailing the train. Tho second attempt was made on September 4th, when the Montreal express \yaß actually thrown oft the line, and several passengers were Injured. Five wreckers wero engaged in the work—Cain, Buett, Cordial, Kierraan, and 3eed, all prominent strikers in connection with the contests on the New York Central railway, and all members of the Order of (he Knights of Labour.
