The Carterton Olmrm has the following details of the meeting held at Greytown'on Wednesday evening: -" The meeting held at the Palace Hall, Greytown, last night was very poorly attended, the working men' 1 being conspicuous by their absence, Mr W.' Udy presided, anil, called upon the convenors to address the meeting, No one came forward for a long time until Mr W..R. Thompson moved and Mr Gilbert seconded, " That this meeting express sympathy with those men out on strike and will supportthemmorallyandfinanoially." This motion was carried, A suggestion was then made to take up a collection, but someone wanted to hear what the collection was for.

.Mr W. C. Nation then gave a history of the Btrike. The collection was made, and £llos 8d subscribed, Very few present seemed to have any sympathy with the movement. Mr D'Aroy, a the Knights of Labour, addressed the meeting on tho advantages of that Order, and after a lengthy speech urged them to form a branch in Greytown. After considerable delay the Chairman moved •' that a branch be formed in Greytown," but it was a long time- before anyone would second it. Finally Mr Udy, sen., did so, and the motion was doolared carried amid mingled applause and langhter. Upon being invited to enroll themselves, not a single name was given in, and the meeting broke up," ,
