At a meeting of tho Land Board to-day, a resolution was carried that in the opinion of the Board and in ' , tho iuterests of settlement, Sou th Mangaohao reserve in Kairanga, .'•' Avawaru, and Mangahoo districts, containing 25,200 acres, or the Tararua ranges be thrown open for sale, as there was no valuable timber on it. Tho Commissioner opposed the motion on the grounds that it should ba reserved for rainfall purposos. It wa3 also resolved that the following lands bo ' thrown open for sale:—Reserves in Pencarrow, Oroke, Belmont, Eimutaiia and Wnirarapa districts, con- ' •- taining 31,400 acred, also, a reserve, of 88,000 acres m Akatarawa, Eretonga, and Waiohine districts. • The Commissioner voted against the resolution for tho same reason as &Bf before A further resolution was ■ •• carried that forest reserve sections 129 and 138 in Block 8, Mangahao, part j of Block 0, Mangahao, and section 58, Block 10, Mangahao, be unreserved and thrown opeu for sale.
