Frederick Murslund' Hadlield, formerly of the City Hotel, was commuted for trial to day on three charges of forging .the. name of Wm Goodwin to cheques on tho Bank of New South Wales, amounting to LlB2, Joseph Harrop was charged with him, hut was dismissed. All tho cheques woro cashed by thi Bank. There are seven more charges against Hadlield, in two of which Harrop is implicated.

Dunedin, July 28, In giving judgment in another of the many cases brought by tho agents of tho Picturesque' Atlas Company, Mr Oarew, R,M, said if a person signed an order without reading it, then the document is consistent with either of the contradictory statements.
