SOCIAL PURITY.
Snisatloaal Disclosures Demoralisation in the ¥airarapaThoEev J. Dellow, of Greytown, in the course of his sermon in the Wesleyan Church last evening, made' some remarkable statements bearing upon tho moral condition of the young people of tho Wairavapa at the present time, The Eev gentleman, in tho course of his remarks,' said that ou one Sunday evening he was going home from Masterton, when, on reaching his destination at 11.80 p.m., ho heard hilarous laughter arising from a field near Papawai. On listening attentively he discovered that the voices were those of young men and women. He was astounded at suoh conduct at so late an hour, and deprecated it as utterly immoral in-all its surroundings, Further, ho stated that he had been "horriblydisgusted" at what he had witnessed between the Black Bridge and Greytown, On proceeding homo at a very late hour ho had seen scores of young people of opposite sexes sitting together on logs and on tho grass on moonlight nights, He had seen sufficient to convinco li'in that there was an urgent need for immediate moral reform. In conclusion he urged upon the young women in his congregation to bo very careful about what they said to their companions, as words were often misconstrued which led to their eternal ruin, He besought his hearers in the name of Christ and fallen 1 humanity to do all in their power to suppress that evil which in every township in the Wairarapa was deplorably on the increase.
