CORRESPONDENCE.
Fruit Culture.
• , (to the Emm) ' ■ Sm,—l am frequently asked by people how deep they should plant 1 fruit trees, I should advise thorn to look at the stem of the treo. There is the ground mark where they have been previously planted. They require a good mulching to keep out the drought, You should not put manure in the, holes where the ground is good, The ground should be covered nine inches, thick in a six feet circle round the tree with half rotten manure. If that cannot bo produced, the old rotten flux gum from the {lax mills is very good, as it washes down to the young roots in winter. By no means uso the raw. fresh gum. Great cars should be taken in priming, On no account cut anything but the strongest growing varieties, Cut off half of the last yeai's 1 growth. Stake tho trees up firm and seo the stakes do not rub against the trees. I am, &c., Jas. Stone.
