[From Our Own Correspondent] A public meeting \m held in the schoolroom on July 3rd to discuss the advisability of forming a fire brigade, but was as usual very poorly attended, Several gentlemen present sunko very strongly on tho nonattendance of tho large property owners. Mr T. Buyliss explained tho object of the m'eeting, and Mi' Bennett moved that a fire brigade be formed, Mr Murdock seconded the motion,which waa carried Discussiou then ensued as to the different methods adopted by fire brigades. 'Mr Toohill moved, that considering (lie small attendance « meeting be called for a future date, Mr Bennett movp.d as an amendment that a brigade be formed - at once, Tne amendment wits carried.
