EKETAHUN ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, June 18th. Present—Messrs Matlneson (Chairman), Fogden, Anderson, Neilscn and Dowsett, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The bauk'e account was reported as £l76i IS* 4d and the ordinary account £651. CORRESPONDENCE, From S Cbisholm re transfer of his contract to; Mr T Parson. Mr Murray waited on the Board in reference to this contract and complained that the contract had not been completed before. The Board agreed to the transfer of tho contiact tn Mr Persons provided it wiis completed within three months,
From A Wakelin, requesting permission of the Board to construct a tramway to bis section, The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Wakelin that the road is not ir, the Board's district.
_ From H Broom, Masterton, re road line to his section, Parkville.; Resolved that the Chairman and Mr Fogden report on the line at next monthly meeting, From! Mr Monaghan re road, stating that he would accept the boundary laid down by the Board, aud wishing to known when it would be completed. THE MAIN BOAD, VJat ' Mr Kelliher waited on the Board," statingi that he had finished'the road; . Mr King reported that the contractors hM not completed t|e work, the cpjitraotors had left the. w?rk' so
long that the, mud had worked up tlitough the metal. Dry metal would now have to be put' on. before the toad would bo fit. for m Great negligence had. been shown by the contractor in having the work so long in hand and as it was now .the road would never be good. - The Board decided to leave, the ooQtraoii in the bauds of the Engineer.
RESOLVED.. That the . engineer be instructed to take over contract No.! 13 now lot to Mr Kenny as he has neglected to go on with the work, and pall for fresh tenders for the ; work to be opened in jtbree weeks'time. Tliat meetings beheld at 2 p.m. in future.
That Mr Dowsolt be empqwered to spend 15s ill repairs to, satisfaction of the engineer. That the Bank of New Zealand be written to re opening a branch , in Eketahuna as'no definite reply had been received to the letter from the Board two months ago. That the Commissioner of Crown Lands bo written to, calling attention to the irregular payments of thirds to' the MattriceVille Road Board from sections within the Eketahuna, so that, the error maybe avoided in I future. ■: I'., frik-i. - That Mr Bass be paid 7s for removing tree on Makikihi road. - That the agreement of adjustments of accounts between . Eketahuna and Mauricevillo Boards be signed by all members; '' ' l \ •
•Mr Murdoch nailed on'the. Board on; behalf of Kenny's niates, stating that they were willidg.to go on rtith .the contract and complete i the 'same for the money due on the contract. Resolved, that the County Council be requested to strike a fil rate in the Eketahuna road district, and hand the samo . with license fees over to the Eketahuna Road Board for the. purpose of maintaining the roads in the Eketahuna riding, provided the Road Board get the ratepayers to sign a petition in favor of getting the Alfredton and main road through the riding formed into a road district. The Board at this stage went into committee,
