Correspondence.

(To the Editor.) : Sir.—On referring to the report of the late meeting of the School Committee I find that you have fallen into an error in regard to what I said respecting the treatment the Committee received from the deputation from the Board, and which I trust you will allow me to correct. What I did say, without referring to the gentlemanly qualifications of the members, was that the Committeo had not been treated in a proper manner by the deputation. Eeferring further to a looal which also appears in yesterday's Daily respecting the site for a new school, you might have explained that in 1887 tho Simcox acre was the only site offered, and as the Board deolined to deal with less than an area of one acre,, the aore under notice was at the time in my opinion certainly the most suitable, but nowthatMrWoodrooffe's section is submitted at a reasonable price, not £4BO, as demanded in 1887,1 am now of opinion that it is tho most suitable site in every shape and form. Willi regard to changing of opinions, I know of a great many public men who constantly do so, and think that a man niqet be eooentnc indeed should he stick persistently to an opinion which tho times and the situation of affairs may demand altered,—l am, &0., E, FOEwen,
