Thejatost phase of tho tailoresses' dispute is that Mr Moßridu is taking into his employ non-unionists in the place of those gone out on strike, Mr J. P. Maxwell, one of the Railway Commissioners, who has been on a visit to this district, left to day by the Wanaki for Wellington. DuNEDiN,May 15, The proprietors of tho Shag Point Colliery are proceeding civilly for an ejectment of those miners on strike .who are in occupation of their houses, At a meeting today of the council of the Chamber of Mines, it was rosolved to recommend the Government to repeal the existing legislation regarding' mining certificates, and introduce a Bill providing for the grading of mining managers, and an issue of. certificates' accordingly, provision to be made for the issue of certificates other than first class to snub candidates as should prove upon examination to have been in actual successful practice for a period of years as mine manager.
Westport, May 15. An accident occurred at the crane which is working in the granite quarry at OapeFoulwind this afternoon, to a man named Samuel Grant, His wrist was broken, Another man named Donaldson was injured about his legs.
