FOOTBALL

The Eketahuna .Football; Club played the return matoh ' against Pahiatua on Saturday last, on the latter's ground. Owing to the bad state of tlio weather, ii wag late beforo.the match started. Eketahuna were principally made up of Tutaebra Maoris, and they were very ably assisted in the. match. Mr Kummer captained the -Eketahuna team and Mr Perry the Pahiatua, The game was very fast from the start, but great want of form was noticeable, amongst- some of the forr wards in both teams. Although Pahiatua was almost'flooring on; two or three occosions during the first spell, it ended without auy advan : tage being gained by either side! It was ten minutes to five when the Becond spell was started, and as may be imagined it concluded in the dark, It was much the same as the former spell, neither side scoring until three minutes before''time,', when F,' Porry, securing a pass from one of the Eketahuna- men, just inside their twenty-fives, succeeded in getting over the lino. Nothing further resulted fiom the score, Tho whistle blew .shortly; after the game had been resumed, ' thus leaving Pahiatua,the victors by one point to nil, The following were conspicuous for their good play, For Pahiatua— Parry, McCardle, Bowden, and Wallace, and for Eketahuna-Ross, Kummer, Mini, and T. flodgins. The visitors were entertained at a smoke concert in tho evening, at which everyone enjoyed'themselves.

The following team .will, represent the Municipal lire Brigade in the football matoh with the To Whiti Rovers on Saturday next, on the old Star. Ground, play, tocoinmenoe it threa o'clock: —Baclt, H. Speaking of the Marton Football Club, the local paper says;—" The Club are expecting a visit from the Mastertoii team early in June, and intend holding a concert on the evening of the match." Mastertonians will therefore know what to expect !
