SAD FATAL ACCIDENT.

A Youth Crushed to Death.

News was brought to Masterton this morning by Mr A W.Cave,ofTe Oro Ore, that a young man named George Kussoll, in his employ, had been crushed to death by a' fall of earth.

It appears, from what we can gather, that the young fellow, who had been till recently working at] Heron's flasmill, bad gone out with a cart to get a load of tnetal from a pit in the neighbourhood. He took up a pick and commenced excavating, when a large fall occurred, and be was cpmpletely smothered. Mr Cave, who was near at the time, oxtriented the lad as soon as possible, but it was discovered that lie W sustained fatal injuries, and he soon expired, : Constable Swain was despatched immediately with Petrio's express for the scene of tho accident, and the body of deceased was brought to town and now lies at the Occidental hotel, awaiting an inquest, which will ptobably be held to-morrow morning.

On examining the body of tho poor fellow after its arrival in town it was discovered that fearful injuries had been sustained, both legs being broken at the hips, tho whole of the rib 3 being fractured, ai)d the trunk Mmost Beveren iift'wo.

Deceased bad been working for Mr Cave for a week< only, : and was thus inexperienced in pit work, His friends, we understand, reside at the Hutt,
