Guards complained that their hours were too long They had to work 13| hours pßr day Some engine drivers occasionally on duty worked 18 hours at a strotch, and got no more than five off duty. Thpy contended they should always have a proper interval of at least eight horns for sleep. Theso long horn's occurred twice a week.
