The Sweating Commission. Startling Revelations, Auckland, Saturday. At the Sweating Commission yesterday, ovidenCe was given that drill trousers could bemade complete for 7s 6d per dozen pairs. One factory was getting them made at 2|d per pair, which was worse than Loudou prices. It would take a woman two days to malte a dozen pairs of drill trousers, by which she would earn 2s 6(1. Dr Beale said that during, tho past few montlw he had attended a number of girls suffering from incipient consumption aud other diseases. He attributed this to overcrowding and insufficient nutritive food. -Iu the saddlery trade the wages averaged £2 for men and Gs for girls. One witness said that saddles were now made complete for 5s eaoh. A tailor said that owing to the trade being slack he had been working as a chimney sweep for six or seven years; it his paid better than tailoring, as there svere not so many boys at it,
