Sydney, March 22. : It is reported that during the recent rains a mail and passenger train at Coomba had a narrow escape, A person noticing the flood waters, examined,the line and,found twenty sleepers' banging, 'with' the - ballast completely washed away underneath, leaving a chasm. He improvised a danger signal of it kerosene tin, with a candle and a red s'lk handkerchief, and thus stopped the train and averted a terrible catastrophe. ■ Brisbane, March 22.
