Carterton Borough Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Council was held on Monday evening. Present—The Mayor, (Cr E. Fairbrothor,) and Crs Booth, w. Vickerstaff, Thos. Moore, A.'McKenzie, and G. W. Dellor, The minutes of the previous meeting were road and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £4B 14s 2d, and also laid on the table an account of receipts since the last meeting. Correspondence inwards was 'read as follows From Mr Ofsoaki, re fencing boundary between sections 213 and 211. The Mayor explained that the fetioo roforred to was on the road, but as it seemed to bo only a neighbour's quarrel the Council did not think it advisable tn interfere. Mr Ofsosld was iu. attendance," and explained the matter about the fence. After, hearing the explanation, it was resolved that the .owner have notice to shift the fence to its proper boundary...
From Mr G. A. Fnirbrother, notifying that Mr A, A, Mercer had been elected Captain to the new Fire Brigade, and asking the Council's consent to the same. After a good deal of discussion on the matter, the opinion of the Council was that such matters wero best left to the members of the Brigade to discuss. From the ranger, giving notice of his resignation at the expiration of a month, Accepted.
