WELLINGTON MEAT EXPORT COMPANY.

An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in this Company was held yesterday afternoon. Mr W. C. Buchanan M.H.R., presided, The chairman said the business was purely formal, and tho meeting \m held in accordance with the: Companies Act. The leport of the Directors would be comprised in a few figures as to the capital of the old Moat Export Company and Meat Preserving and Refrigerating Company,' and the allot, ment of shares. from those two ■companies into the new one, The capital of tho Meat Export Company, before amalgamation, was ,£22,397 [Ob, composed of £13,530 in £5 share?, and £8,867 20s in £2los paid up, Tho capital of the Moat Preserving; Company was £BIB2, composed of 1080 £5 shares fully paid np, £5400; 2173 shares of £1 2s 6d paid up, £2782 2s CI Tho allotments now made in thenew Company were—B7B6 L 5 shares fully paid up; L 18,925; 3434 fully paid up to L2los, L 8585; ond22U9ofLl2s6dpaidup,L2sßsj total, L 30.095 ss. There were still 115 shares ac L2 10s paid up, and 173 at LI 2s 6d, unallotted, amounting altogether to L 484 7s (id. These rep. resented shares in which there were some arrears of calls. .; The Chairman, in returning thanlta said ;With reference to thu extension ofworksj'm was evident that more capital/would be required. It was impossible to cany on. .without- the sinews of war. Tho Directors would in this matter lie dependent upon the support given them by stockownr-rs and the public generally, to, whom the/ would bo appealing for assistance in floating new shares almost immediately; and they trusted that new capital would be subscribed, liberally hearing in mind the assistance the Compauy had given, not only to this district, but to the Colony generally.

A vote of thanks to the Chairman was passed, on the motion of Mr W. Booth, who remarked that only, tho Directors really knew the extent to which Mr Buchanan from time to time laid tin Company under obligation to him.

Castlepoint Road Board-

A moetlng of the Board was held on Saturday last. Present-Messrs Maunsell (Chairman) Langdon and Elder. The minutes of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed, Tho Treasurer reported balance in Bank No. 1 account £52 8s 4d and No. 2 account 1.1215s Id, Correspondence read from Property .Tax Commissioner ro subsidy paid into Bank. From Upper Taueru Eoad Board applying for a grant of £3 10s towards opening a'track to Mr R, A, Nicholls sections via Mangapururu and applying for payment of 80s already granted. From Mr E, A. Nicholls on 'same, From' Mr B. Donald re timber. Resolved that 80s be granted to the Upper Taueru Road Board towards assisting in opening the track to Mr Nioholl's flections. That Mr Elder bo authorised to ernploy a'surveyor to survey the road' through Mr- McKenzio's land, and also Mr Andrew's, Accounts amounting to £B6 18s lid were passed for payment. Two tenders wen received for formation on tho Uriti Line, but were declined as they wore considered too high. Next meeting will be held '■ on 23rd February.
