Tho Dean has received a.lelograra from the' Bishop 'of Nelson stating that he has received .the assent of three Diocesan Standing Committees to the nomination of Arehdeajon Julius as Bishop of Christclmrch, and that when he has that of tho Christchurch Committoo he will make a suggestion, which he hopes will bo acceptable to all.parties, '.' ■-• Auckland, January 29. Altogether 1500 people took part intho procession, which was over a ■milelong. It was a.great success, and presented. an imposing appearance, particularly when marching down the streets. It is estimated that, from 80,000 to 40,000 people lined the route, the huge crowd somowhat impeding : tho.march, The procession went along Karangahape-rond down Symonds-street, aiid through to Government Houao to present an address to the Governor, The Volunteers, under Colonel Shepherd, lined the parthway through Government House grounds. On tho arrival opposite Government house-at quarter past 10, the Mayor (Mr Upton) read an address on behalf of the Corporation and citizens.' It' statee that on this the 50th anniversary of tho foundation of tho Colony of New Zealand, the Mayor and Councillors, on behalf of the citizens, presented congratulations to tho Governor, and respectfully requested him to convey the same to the Queen. His Excellency was asked to give Her Majesty an account of the natural : bcauti?s and resources of the country, and to state that she might regard it as ono of the happiest of her possessions. The address concluded with an assurance of the devotion and loyalty of New Zealand to Her Majesty the Queen. His Excellency rephed, expressing tho great pleasure the address gave him. He, then read two telegrams he had received from England, Tho first was from the Queen, asfollows:-- " I have received her Majesty's commands to offer congratulation to the people of Now Zealand on the fiftieth year of prosperity and good government, and warm wishes for continued) welfare." Tho second message, from the Secretary of State, was as follows :
"It gives mo great pleasure to convey congratulations on behalf of Her Majesty's aovernment on the occasion of tho fiftioth anniversary of the acquisition of New Zealand by Her Majesty," Both telegrams wore received with deafening applause, His Excellency cabled a reply acknowledging the receipt of the two messages and stating the Ministers and the people of New Zealand return thanks for tho congratulations on the Jubilee.
