JUBILEE DAY AT WOODVILLE. ' WopnviLLE, Monday. .Arrangements have been made to entertain a thousand children at the -Jubilee Demonstration, There will be a-, procession of district bands,. Friendly Societies', children and settlers, and on the procession reaching the centre of the to.wn the Mayor will deliver a Jubilee address and the children will •sing the National Anthem. The procession will then inarch to the ground where sports aiid band contests will be held. Amongst other arrangements for feeding the multitude a bullock is to be roasted whole, and in the evening a fireworks display. Levin and Co, N.Z. Shipping Company, \Vellington, and Nelson Bros., Hastings, made handsome contributions to supplement the local subscriptions,

JUBILEE IN AUCKLAND,
.Auckland, Monday. Since Saturday several thousand people havo come into town by.steamer and train to take part in the Jubilee festivities. It has been arranged that theOrlando and Lizard .will: be docked here before their Volunteers will form a Guard of Honor on the arrival of Lord Oiiblow to-morrow. Tho whole of the volunteers of the garrison will parade on Wednesday to Hue the , streets, Forty-one entries have been received for the special yacht raco.

A Clever .Capture; ; Gisborne, January 25. 'A man named Salter Watson was committed for trial on December 30th for larceny and admitted to bail, His bondsmen demanded' his arrest last week, and a mounted constable was sent in search of Watson, who bolted in the direction of Napier. Two Wairoa policenien were also sent ont to look for him, and after patient search and a tough struggle they captured Watson and brought him to Gisborne.. He was to-day committed to gaol, ...■".
A Canoe VoyagePalmerston North, January 2G. Mr George Park the well-known canoeist, left Eketahuna this morning at 10 o'clock in his Bob Eoy canoe,'and arrived at Palmerston at 4 p.m. Ho experienced.no diffioultj in navigating the large rapids, and describes the trip as a very pleasaul one through grand scenery.

, Oamaru, January 26. A young man named Eaven was drowned, at Kurow on Friday. He had crossed a branch of the Waitaki river on horseback to drive two horpes off an Island, In reoroseing both horse and the rider were Bwept away, and have not been seen since. CrmiBTCHURCH, January 2G, Mary Stewart, wifo of a labourer, died in the hospital to-day from injuries received by her being thrown out of a trap on tho New road last Monday. '
