get up a fpwn hall,.and they ought to meet wifr\i considerable .auqeesa, as such a thing is very much needed, There is no amusement in bore nowadays. Young'''settlers do not appear to understand such a thing la. They work from gear's end to year's end and appear'to be no better off than those whodo.Viccasionally, take a holiday and a little amusement,. We have now got\a store in hero, which is a great boon, in winter,, at all events. The store\yas built by Mr C. J. Trapp, who is ofiJigiug and endeavors to please his craomers. He is now also looking wter the library for the convenience otysubsoribers, who, by this arrangement may now obtain- books at anytime, The settlers do not, however, seem to. take a great interest in such a useful objeot. Wo had recently a visit from the Eev D. Fulton, of Masterton, tho Rev 0. Murray of Carterton, and Mr Feist, with the object of seeing what could be done for the spiritual wellbeing of our community. The result of their visit has been the appointment of a committee-who are taking steps to secure the services of a clorgyinan- for the district. The laymen who have conducted religious services here for some time, and the gentlemen who oonduct the Sabbath i School deserve the thanks of all those who believe in something beyond tho" work and tucket'" life,
