Masterton Borough Council. The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Conncil was held on Tuesday night. Present: His Worship the Mayor, and Ora Jfitton, Hessey, T. Chamberlain, Dixon, Gapper, Porry, Mason, Moßwen, and E. Chamberlain, .The minutes of the previous meeting too read and confirmed. UORUEBPONDENOE, Prom the secretary United District Board applying for ourrent quarter's contribution. Tho clerk stated he had replied to the demand, and pointed out that all dues were paid to 81st March, 1890. From the secretary of the Jubilee Committee, asking permission if the Council for tho Municipal Firo Brigade to take part in the Jubilee celebration. Agreed to. . From tho manager of the Bank of Australasia) agreeing to" pay half the cost of asphalting footpath.

From secretary Municipal Fire Brigade, stating that twenty mombera had-been oleoted to the Kuripuni Brigade, and Mr V 7. Morris had been appointed Lieutenant; also applying for caps, spanners, and belts, and 500 feet of hose, Referred to the Fire Brigade Committee.

From J. S. Berriman, stating the ratepayers in George street were not in a position to subscribe the amount required by the Council to make the street, 'viz., £2O, and staling that certain residents were prepared to subscribe £5,

The amondment was seconded by Or B, Chamberlain and carried. WORKS COMMITTEE, The following report was' read and adopted: The foreman reported on the work done -duriug the month. It"was resolved to recommend, that the oulyort ftt Kuripuni be gone on with, That the gravel for ssphalt be obtained as weather permits, That last season's asphalted footpaths be flooded. The ohairmsn reported that new timber, had been, ordered, for the Kuripuni Creek culvert. The overseer was ordered to rake off tho loose stones from Upper Plain road, it was resolved to recommend, that notioobo given tQ owners of property to put in block approaches to % Bank of Australasia and pthov premises in Perry street. ; .

L, Travers, m 3s 4d, and Brown, Skerrett, andDeano, £B7, be paid; also wages, &c, £17116s Id. That a new cheque be issued io J.
