CRIMINAL SESSIONS.
Wellington. Wednesday, Iu the Supreme Court this morning Frank 'Masters,' alias Smith, alias Johnston, an elderly man who was found guilty on the previous day of a criminal assault on a ehild of tender yeirs was sentenced to five years penal servitude. Four previous convictions havo been recorded against tho prisoner for indecent exposure, and he told His Honor this particular kind of crime was a disease with hisi, and bo was not aoouiitablofor his actions. When tho sentence was pronounced, the prisoner became very violent, and this, together with his extraordinary behaviour during the trial, led to tho belief that ho is iiiHiine. It took four warders to forcibly remove him to the cells,
In the third indictment against Thomas Boys Gambrill, charging him with maliciously wounding, the Crown entered a nolle prosequi, and accused was discharged. . Tho ease against Joseph Ward, piano tuner, for a criminal assault on a little girl at Carterton, is being proceeded with.
