On 2iiih ultimo, when sonic 1000 tali* wen; submittal to the lmmmn', piica marked an irregular advance of from LI to L 3 per ton for gooil medium qualities, ordinary and baicly fair descriptions fully maintaining previous rates. On 2nd instant, however, the somewhat large offering of 13000 bales met an irregular demand, and about 1000 bales weio cleared at prices which barely supported the advance above quoted. Sales at auction and privately amount to some 3500 bales at from L3l toLM 15s por ion for good to well-dressed Wellington, LI'SS to L 29 per ton for fair medium, while good ordinary half-dressiii hemp has brought from L2ti to L 27 per ton. Dull grey fibre has been somewhat slow of sale at from L2l to L2llos per ton. Butter.—There has been a good inquiry for all descriptions of Continental butter during the past month, French sorts being in most request,
and values mark an appreciable advance, Tlio small parcels receivid ""*]&!• Doric (s) and Tongariro (s) were readily disposed of at from 71s to (15s per cwt.
