The Disastrous Fire at Melbourne. Melbourne, September 11, A disastrous lire broke out last evening in tlio principal part of Col-lins-street, one of the mail) thoroughfares of the city. Tlio flames spread with alarming rapidity, and Collins-street presented a mnguilicent though terrible scone, Allan's music shop was partially destroyed, but Mullen's book-shop was untouched, though considerable loss was entailed by the removal of perishable stock, Mr George, who owns a large drapery establishment which! fell a victim to the (ire in its early stnge, is insured for £44,000, The other insurances are as yet unknown, Tlio total damage by tire is roughly estimated at £200,000. While the lire was raging one or ' two walls fell, and John McLeod, a firman, was killed. Ten others were badly injured, while two aro missing, and it is feared aro buried in the ruins.
