Wanganci, August 26.. j Tho total entries received for the poultry and dog show amount to 540, composed of 294 poultry, 81 pigeons, 48 canaries, and 122 dogs. The show opens on Wednesday morning. Missing. Auckland, August 2(j. The strange disappearance of & young man named B. T. Bowden is reported from Drury,. Bowden was in partnership with W. Carrick as proprietor of a farm at Karalm, about nine miles from Drury, and lived on this property, on which were running a number of cattle and sheep. It was his custom to ride into tho township for supplies, and ho did so on the 18th July last. Since that dite he has not been seen. A search party is to bo. smt out. Bowdeu's parents live at Nelson. Dunedin, August 20. Competition between the Tramway Company and Young's Palace cars, which were brought down here after the proprietor was bought out in Wellington has now commenced in earnest. Young was running his cars in penny sections, but the Tramway Company from to-morrow will run their cars for tho full distance for a penny. Twenty-one years service. Timaru, August 20. Mr Edwin Henry Lough, town clerk on Saturday completed 21 years in that capacity. At the Council meeting to-night the Mayor, Mr Ross, mentioned the fact, adding a wHffl eulogy of their chief executive officer, He akq stated that during his long term of office Mr Lough bad never had a holiday, and suggested it was about time they gave him one.'
