The Maori Footballers. Christchukch, Wednesday, ' The Canterbury Rugby Union have decided to accept the Otago Union's dpcision in respect to the Maori footballer's suspended. ' Auckland Items. Auckland, August 13. Steps are mooted for the repairs of the graves of the soldiers who fell in the Waikato and the West 'Joast campaigns. It is stated that the officers and men of the Imperial forces have felt very bitterly the neglect of the graves of their friends, and that Sergeant Hutchinson, iormerly a non commissioned officer ot the 18th Royal Irish, who recently arrived from Melbourne, is moving in the matter.
A resident of Ponsonby, Mr George Scott, celebrated his 100 th birthday yesterday.
■ The return cricket match between the girls of East and West Hamilton schools was played at Hamilton on Saturday. The pupils of the Hamilton West institution a«ain won, beating the other tejtm by one innings and runs. -
