The Dalefield Dairy Company.

Our Largest Cheese Factory. During the past season the Dalefield Dairy Company made altogether seventy tons of cheese. Twenty-six tons of this were sent to England, and the rost was sold in New Zealand and Australia. The total sum realised was nearly two thoueaud nine hundred pounds (£2 jilO), Tho total sum obtained for the cheese was four pence and four tenths ('ld 4-lOths) net at the factory, The Dalefield factory is in the proud position of manufacturing nearly half as much cheese again f.s any other factory iu tho Wairarapa, This year its output was twenty-two (22) tons in excess of what it made last season. Out of the total of one hundred and fifty five thousand (155,000) gallons of milk received, one hundred and fifty three thousand (158,000) pounds of cheese were produced, The milk suppliers received an average payment of three pence and three tenths (3d 8-10ths) per gallon for tho milk they sent in, This absorbed two thousand ono hundred and fortfe pounds (2,140). Prior to deduction eighty seven pounds had;, as required by tho rules of tho Association, been set apart for a ten per ceut dividend to the shareholders, who are not in all casos milk suppliers, Sixty-one poun&jhad also been reserved as instalment to a sinking fund, which, with its accruing interest totals up the sum of twelve hundred pounds in ten years, and thus places the milk suppliers in a position to pay off outside shareholders, and secure the factory lo themsaives. The constitution oi' tho Company has specially provided for this being done, the present share, holders being entitled to have their dividend, thp working expenses, and this sinking fund instalment, made a

first charge against the Company's receipts, after which all surplus goes to the milk suppliers in payment for milk, and profit. Tho following avotlio directors: —Messrs W, Booth (Chairman), It. Fairbrotlier, S, M. Hart, Jas. Hadder, Tho two latter retire at the annual mooting on 21st August, but are eligiblo for re-election. Mr Geo. H.
