Parliamentary.
In the Legislative Council yesterday the second reading of the Representation Bill was agreed to after discussion.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The debate on the second reading of the Property Tax Amendment Bill was resumed.
The Premier spoke at longth on the question, and said what he wanted was to bring into contrast the policy of the Government, of resting 'there lines at satisfamfty points and of non-borrowing, with that of the leader of the Opposition. Mr Buchanan: What about the Eltetahuna-Weodville?
The Premier thought that line could very well rost for a time. Ho did not want to ruin the Manawatu line, which would certainly bo the result if tho Eketahuna-Woodville line was carried through. The enterprise of those peoplo ol Wellington who had undertaken that great work deserved a bettor fate. The Houso adjourned at 11.45 without concluding tho debate.
