Church Miss Freethy has always been at her post, our esteemed organist has ably assisted us in the Church and Sunday School, and I deeply regret her determination to leave Ekelahuna. I can assure Miss Freethy that in leaving here she will take with her the heart-felt wishes of young and old. Mr Jones said:—l am glad to see so many at this social gathering. Since I have taken Mr Bayiiss' place in tho Sunday School Miss Freethy has helped me in every iviy. In the Sunday School wo'shall miss her, The object of the meeting iu to show the esteem we hold her in, and to to show the public that although wo livo in tho bush we can appreciate those that are worthy. The young children all liked her, every one that has come in contact with her like her. I only hope that whoever' it is that takes her place will be as well appreciated, With thoso few remarks I have great pleasure in presenting Miss Freethy with this dressing enso, on behalf of the inhabitants of Eketahuna, as a small token of the respect and esteem felt for her by the community, and I trust that wherever you may bo, Miss Freethy, when you look back on this case you will remember the many friends you have left in Eketalmna,

A very elegant dressing case ■was then handed to her. Miss Freethy was too overpowered to reply/ Mr T. Baylies said I cannot allow this opportunity to pass without thanking Miss Freethy for the help she has been to us in the church as organist and Binger, Before she came here music was at a discount. Since I have been in Eketahuna I havo always been connected with the school, and it has not, always been plain sailing,

Mr Copping, on behalf of tho Good Templars, said, I, as chief, must express on behalf of the Lodge, my regret at Miss Freethy leaving the district.

Mr Bayiiss replied on behalf of Miss Freethy, lam sure you will accept through me the thanks of Miss Frethy, and. the assurance that no matter where she may be she will never forget this happy night in Eketahuna, Sometimes we are separated from those we love, but she trusts not for ever, Again I thank you on behalf of Miss Freethy for this great, if I may so call it, mark of esteem that she has been hold in by the young and old of Eketahuna,

A farewell was also tendered to Mr Jackson, who is leaving for England, having inherited some property thore, Mr Jackson, in returning thanks, remarked that he would very likely return to New Zealand, as what he had Been of the country he liked very much,

So terminated ono of tho pleasantest'evenings I have spent for some time.
