CintiSTCHuitoli, August 6, A robbery of a daring character is reported to have taken place at the Christchurc'i Club, the thief having abstracted i 8 and some papers from an upstairs room, The detectives have the matter in hand. Determined Suicide'. Wellington, Wednesday, James Barrett, a messenger at the Parliamentary Buildings, hanged himself this morning. He had been drinking heavily for six weeks and was drunk last night, Ho seemed very depressed tins morning, and at 9.30 was found in the W.C. behind his house. He had fastened the door and tied his hands behind his back, His windpipe was fractured.
Sudden Death. Beefios, August 6, Mr Walter Ashanan, a sharebroker, well-known in Auckland, Nelson, and other parts of the Colony dropped dead yesterday evoning. Ho was doing business on 'change up to 5 p.m. He was taken ill about 7, and died an hour later,
