The Petition tor the Reprieve of Louis Uhemis.

The petition praying for the reprieve of Louis Obemis will be presented to the Governor at the Uovornment House at three o'clock this afternoon, The petition, which bears 8,870 signatures will ho presented by Dr Newman, and Messrs Nicholas Fernandez, W, H. Auckland, July 81. The New Kuaotumi goldlield, near Commando), is described by a correspondent of the Herald as having splendid' prospects. Ho thinks the field is the best which lias beeu opened since the discovery of the Thames, and says ho has never seen a place where the show of gold is so general, whilst the country is of line sandstone.
